Application to universities in Spain
Find out how the application process for studies in Spain in English and Spanish works, what application points and PCE are, and how to increase your chances for your chosen degree program.
Application deadlines
In the regular application cycle for public universities, you usually submit documents at the end of June or the beginning of July. You usually need to register for the PCE exams by the end of April. UC3M offers Early Admission, and private universities open applications already in the autumn of the previous year and operate on a rolling admission basis, so the sooner you submit your application, the better your chances.
Important information
Spain has regional application systems, often available mainly in Spanish. Requirements, deadlines and documents vary between regions. That is why it is important to prepare Plan A, B and C and check the rules for each university separately.
In addition, you cannot forget about the need to provide accreditation of your school results and a language certificate, which are required by most universities.
How to get accepted?
In the regular application process, you can score a maximum of 14 points: up to 10 for your school-leaving exam results and up to 4 for PCE or grade recognition (reconocimiento de asignaturas). At private universities, your CV, motivation letter, interview, portfolio and entrance tests may count.
Language requirements
Requirements depend on the region and university. In Madrid, a language certificate is often required at B2 or C1 level. Interestingly, in some regions, a language certificate is not required (both for programs taught in English and in Spanish). If you want to learn which regions these are - book a free consultation.
Private universities and Early Admission
Private universities usually recruit through their own systems and often operate on a rolling admission basis. Your CV, motivation letter, interview, tests and sometimes grades matter. UC3M Early Admission allows you to apply earlier based on your grades, CV and motivation letter.
We are so confident in the effectiveness of our process that, as the only provider on the market, we offer a full refund of our service fee if you don’t get accepted to any of your chosen universities.
