Important information
You apply directly to universities through their online systems - there is no single central system. Once admitted, you receive a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE), which is required to submit a student visa application and begin your studies.
How to get in?
For undergraduate studies, your secondary school-leaving exam results and grades in key subjects matter, and depending on the degree programme, also your CV, motivation letter, essay, or interview. For a master’s degree, a bachelor’s degree diploma, transcript of grades, and often a relevant previous field of study are required, as well as very often a CV, motivation letter, essay, and sometimes also entrance tests, references, or an interview.
Language requirements
Accepted certificates include IELTS Academic, TOEFL iBT, or Cambridge. The most commonly required level is B2 or C1. Remember to take the appropriate exam in advance.
Student visa
After receiving your CoE, you apply for a Student Visa (subclass 500). You must show proof of financial means, purchase OSHC insurance, and provide educational documents. The process takes from several weeks to several months and costs around 2000 AUD.
